About me

My name is Kanna Yamaguchi, and I’m a Grade 11 student in Singapore who has been captivated by interior design. I’m originally from Japan, where I lived until the age of 13. After that, I spent one year in Switzerland and have now been living in Singapore for almost three years.

My first encounter with interior design was in Grade 5, during the COVID pandemic. At the time, I had absolutely nothing to do and sadly lived without any particular passions. However, a game called Animal Crossing introduced me to the world of interior design—and from that moment, my everyday life began to take on color!

Purpose of this project

The purpose of this project is to investigate and deeply understand the essence of interior design by imagining each room as a person. I came up with this idea when I met people outside my home country who spoke different languages and came from different cultures. Meeting new people and becoming friends is exciting—and I realized I feel the same way about interior design!

Through this project, I aim to explore new possibilities in interior design as a way to connect with others—people both you and I may not know yet.
