Lex Luthor is known to many as Superman’s greatest and most dangerous adversary, and even considered as one of the greatest comic villains of all time. However, he wasn’t always evil as he was first depicted.

When his back story was printed in 1960, it was revealed the Lex actually idolized Superman, who was still Superboy back then. An aspiring scientist, Lex was experimenting on a Kryptonite cure when his lab was caught in an unfortunate accident. Superboy came to the rescue, but while trying to put out the fire with his super breath, the Kryptonite cure accidentally landed on Lex’s head, causing all of his hair to fall out, which made him the bald villain we all know today. He blamed that incident on Superman and became hellbent on destroying him.
